Won't Allow Internet Mail Set Up

I am trying to set up an Internet Mail Account. I can add it to my Outlook
profile but when I double click on it or click the properties button when
Internet Mail is highlighted I get the message This action can not be
completed. I can add other services to my profile no problem.
I also get the message Couldn't read your Internet EMail Profile Please
exit, delete the current profile and create a new one. I've tried this
several times to no avail. I also uninstalled and installed Office 97
Professional several times.
I am running Office 97 Professional and Windows ME.

Do you have Ol 97 SR-2 (or at least SR-1) installed? Do you have the
Internet Mail Enhancement patch for Outlook 97 otherwise?
