Wont install Fax

HI Russ, I tried that, but there is no fax printer device when I go to send a fax from Word David

That's not how you install the fax service.
You install fax from Control Panel > Add/Remove Software.

Printer & faxes folder Right Mouse > Set up faxing > It configures fax
component Then that's it , no fax no nothing. David

List the steps you are using and what happens.
Verify you have an analog fax modem on the Windows XP HCL list.

Office 03, Outlook 03

When I install fax (set up fax, Machine on Printers & faxes folder) it
goes thought the install and I see the phone icon appear in the folder,
and then it disappears and no fax machine!

Any idea's?

Do you get any error messages when you install the fax program?
You never answered my question about your modem.

That's not how you install the fax service.

In case of Windows XP, your PC MUST HAVE A VOICE-FAX MODEM
equipped before you install the OS.
Then OS will detect the MODEM during installation preparing appropriate
modem driver.

Now from START>>Control Panel>> Add/Remove Software, push
"ADD/Remove Windows component" to get a list having "FAX servie" on the top.
You can CHECK the fax servive then OK to install the service.
You will get "FAX" in Printer & faxes folder if your modem is compatible
with the OS.
