won't open file over network

hello all,

I am using visio viewer and a couple of my computers
(win9x) will not open a visio file located on my NT4.0
server.

the same computer WILL open the file if it is copied
locally.

error message is "the file you are trying to open is not a
valid microsoft visio drawing file"

any thoughts ?
