Apply the latest updates. You're way behind.

Then turn AutoUpdate on and leave it on :)

Thanks very much for replying. I have now installed the latest update, but it is still not working. And I cannot figure out how to install auto update. I have read the instructions many times, without any glimmer of understanding of where to find it. Do I use my Office for Mac disk to find it?

AutoUpdate is installed when you install Office. If you can launch *any* of
the Office apps just go to the Help menu & select "Check for Updates". If
you can't launch any of the apps you'll find Microsoft AutoUpdate in:

HD/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

I am having the exact same problem. I do have auto update on, and I checked for updates and was told there are none.

JDR23, I have finally gotten this fixed. What I did was reinstall the whole Office package, which did not affect any of my current files, and then switched auto update and and added the updates right away, and clicked to be informed of updates regularly.

Thanks for the help, for those who replied!!

Then your issue is a *different* issue. Just because the symptoms are
similar doesn't mean that the cause is the same. In that case it would be
best for you to submit a NEW message rather than a REPLY here... A REPLY
should only be submitted if you are offering a suggestion or solution to the
issue being discussed :)

When you post your message make sure to specify your exact version & update
level of both Office & OS X along with a complete & accurate description of
the problem. It helps if you can describe exactly what you're doing when the
problem occurs or what seems to trigger it. Details are what matters.
