i've tryed all of the solutions here but at no avail...
i'm not using a network printer (it is local)
there is NOTHING in my "c:/program files/microsoft
office/office/startup/" folder I.E. not "Normal.dot" file.
and i tried the registry solution but nothing has changed.
i looked into the problem a little more and i found that
as soon as i press the return key (Enter key) word crashes
and when i look in task manager it shows word taking up 90-
100% CPU.
please help... it is very urgent

A long shot, but did you try deleting and reinstalling the printer?

i've looked in the startup foldr but there is no
Normal.dot file... is that abnormal?

Normal.dot is not and should never be in the Startup folder. Look for it in
the path shown for User Templates on the File Locations tab of Tools |
Options. It is a Hidden file, so you have to set the Folder Options in
Windows Explorer to show Hidden and System files.
