Word 2000 custom dictionary

I am trying to create a custom dictionary. I was able to
create a new dictionary under a defined name and type in a
few terms into the file. The file saved properly.
However, I have saved a few other terms as a text file
(different name). When I open my dictionary (to edit) and
copy the terms from my other file and paste into my
dictionary, and try to save my dictionary file (*.dic), I
get an error message that the file is not compatible with
text format. In addition, if I copy just one term and
past into the dictionary and try to save, I get the same
message. Bottom line, do I need to actually type all of
the terms into my custom dictionary and am not able to
paste them? Or, is there a way I can paste and properly
save custom dictionary?

thanks
Peter.

The normal method is to do this in real time... while you are writing your
documents, if you enter a new word, when it is highlighted by Word (the red
squiggly underline), right-click and select Add to Dictionary and word will
add it to your custom.dic.

The custom.dic is a list of words in plain text. You need to make absolutely
sure that what you are trying to paste into Custom.dic is definitely in
plain text from - for example - Notepad.
