We have a very strange situation with Word 2003. We've
been rolling out new PC's with WinXP/Office 2003 to our
departments. In one particular department, some, but not
all, of the users had Word 2000 on their old PC's and had
created documents in it. Now, when they try to open those
documents in Word 2003, it tells them that the file
cannot be opened. Sometimes it offers to repair the file,
but then bombs out on a text extraction tool. It seems
overly odd to me that a *newer* version of software
cannot read an *older* file format. Any ideas/solutions?
We have applied all web updates from the office website.
It did fix the same problem in Powerpoint, however, the
same problem persists in Word.
Thanks!
