Word 2000 freezes when opened

Problem started in May of 2003. Word freezes on every
attempt to open and locks up compter--message-- system
dangerously low on resources. Must manually power off
compter to restart system. Tried uninstall and reinstall
MS Office 2000, did not help. Tried the Nimda Virus
prcedure, it did not help-- what next. (384MB memory)
