I have Word 2000 with the latest patches from the MS site, running under
Win XP home.

This version of Word used to never crash. Now it's suddenly a regular
event. I haven't changed. Why has it?

It's your basic crash -- "an error has occurred" something like that and
it offers the choice of sending a report to MS; then the app closes.

You haven't answered the question. What are you doing when it crashes?
Printing? Saving? Typing? Opening a file? Etc.

Answer: Typing. (Or pausing between keystrokes.) It crashes during
document editing.

This kind of thing could have a million causes... have you installed
any software that might make things flaky? Maybe some spyware got in
that's making stuff die on you? Any Word extensions or anything?

Maybe you should run a virusscan and a spyware scan (until you reply
to Suzanne with more info)

Or, of course, it could be a Word bug. Maybe a recent addition I made to
normal.dot that increased the crash frequency. (I haven't made any major
changes but a minor one might have done it.)

I really don't know what more info I can offer. It crashes. It doesn't
explain why. No, I haven't installed software recently.

I just noticed that an earlier reply I posted to Suzanne's question did
not appear on the newsgroup (which explain's Joel's remark about more
info). No idea why. Here it is again:
