Word 2000 Hangs At Startup Screen

Hi,

I have
Windows XP Home running and have Word 2000 installed. I
recently ran into a problem where when I click on the
program to START, the tiny window pops up that is saying
that it is starting Word 2000 and then freezes... I have
re-installed this package to no avail.

ALL other programs work just fine, it is only Word 2000
that does this.

Can anyone suggest something that I can do to repair this
problem ???...
