Word 2000 Hangs on Open

Suddenly, my Word application doesn't work. When I try to
open the program it opens to the point of 'requesting
virus scan'. The toolbars are visible, blue box has come
up, etc. To shut it down, I have to use the cntrl-alt-
del, program not responding.

This configuration of Word has been in place for over a
year and has always worked fine - never buggy.

I was able to determine that the normal.dot template was
corrupted so I deleted it. (I know just enough to be
dangerous!)

Please help :) I'm on a deadline. Thank you.

Did you look at the reply to Bill's "I can't get Word 2000
to work....". The section about Norton Anti-virus solved
my problem.
