Word 2000 hangs up at start

I have read everything I can find on this error, most say rename th
normal.dat file to normal.old and restart word. After a search of m
machine this file does not show up. Any help would be greatl
appreciated. Also all other office apps work fine and I can open wor
by entering winword.exe /a in the run command line box

Did you search for Normal.dot or Normal.dat? If the latter you need to find
Normal.dot.

The file name is normal.dot not dat dot as in polka dots. (your
fonts may be causing issues.)
