Word 2000 Locking Up

M

Mailbox 80

Word was working fine. I had already saved the document that I was working on several times. Then I selected print and the program stopped responding. I was forced to exit the program by selecting control-alt-delete

Upon re-entering the program, it worked fine until I tried to open any document. The program stopped responding. The only way to exit was control-alt-delete

Rebooting computer has no effect

I then copied the document onto a disk and tried to open it on a different computer. It opened on the second computer, but when I tried to print it, the second computer stopped responding and now Word does not work on the second computer either

Finally this does not appear to affect any other programs on either computer which all appear to be functioning normally including the rest of Office 2000 (i.e. Excel, Outlook)

Please HELP!!!

Sounds like something in your document is corrupting the normal.dot
template in Word, which can result in Word being unable to start again
after it hangs. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm (especially
item 2) for how to fix Word so it works again.

Make a copy of the document that you're having problems printing. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm, and try the
suggested fixes for corrupt documents on the copy. Write back if you
still have problems.
