Word 2000 - Problem printing image behind text.

M

MS

Hi,

I placed a bitmap image on a page document and set it as Behind text. Shows
up great in Print Preview but prints over the text when printed.

Any ideas ?

Tyler,

Nope. Googled and everything and it always comes back to the same stuff,
wich I tried. Seems like this bug has been around since at least Office97.
In my case, it's not a driver issue since I tried on 4 different printers
and 2 PDF drivers. They can't all be bad <g>

But before someone tells me that it's better to use the Watermark feature in
the header or footer, I can't because I need the image placed nowhere near
any of those.

The worst is that it printed once ok with Word97 and then could never get it
to print ok again using same PC and different PCs with Word 2000. Upgraded
Word97 to Word2000 on the original PC, but still a no go.

A watermark is simply a graphic behind the text anchored to the header or
footer; it does not have to be in the header or footer area. If you have
Word 2002 or 2003, use Format | Background | Printed Watermark; for earlier
versions, see “HOW TO: Create a Watermark in Word 97 and in Microsoft Word
2000”

Allright Suzanne, I'll give it a try.

Suzanne,

Ok, gave it a try but it doesn't work. I used method 1 and started at step
4 like the document says.
The image is not visible on screen and also doesn't print. The only way to
actually see it on the screen is if I leave the Color option to Automatic in
the Picture tab. Any other choice makes the image dissappear on screen.
But no matter what I do, it never shows up on paper.

I give up.

Do you have "Drawing objects" checked on the Print tab of Tools | Options?
