Word 2000 - removing obsolete scanning entry?

Hi there,

I recently replaced my HP 6200C scanner with the Epson Perfection 3200 Photo
and despite my uninstalling the HP I still get the entry HP ScanJet Source
listed when I attempt to Insert Picture From Scanner within Word or Excel
2000

If I search the registry I find the key HKCU\Software\Office\9.0\Common\Scan
has a String named DEVICE2 with a value of HP ScanJet Source.

If I remove the whole entry for DEVICE2, reboot the machine and check the
key it doesn't exist any more - which is what you would expect.

However when I run Word or Excel 2000 and goto Insert Picture From Scanner
the HP ScanJet Source still appears.
On checking the registry sure enough there has been another DEVICE2 entry
written.

Does anybody know what writes the entry to the registry when you run Word
and how to stop this behaviour?

Is it an .ini or config file or something hard-coded into the program - can
it be removed?
