Word 2000 Slow

I am having problems opening a word document from My Documents/My Letters in
Windows XP.
I have tried reinstalling software and downloads from Microsoft.
A word document will take 2-3 minutes to load.

Is your My Documents folder on a local drive or network drive?

What patches did you install?
