Word 2000 will not open

When I launch Word 2000 I get the familiar message below.
"Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."
This product has been installed for some time, so this is not an install
issue.
I have reinstalled but the problem is still there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You may want to check with the folks in the MS Office Project newsgroup (link below) and detail there the problem you're having.

Harry already did, and Project MVP Mike Glen gave him a link to
the Project FAQ on mvps.org on May 16. This is at least the
fourth time that multiposting Harry has posted the same question,
which is why I didn't bother to reply.
