Word 2000 Wont Open

When the program tries to launch it says that Word has
experienced a problem and must shut down (Send error or
dont send window.

Only the background of the program shows up before this
happens. Interestingly, I installed the SR-1a update
yesterday...originally said that installation was
unsuccessful then it seemed to install today without
issue.

Tried removing templates in the startup folder and
deleting the data key in version 8 and 9. Still won't
launch....I can launch it by typing word.exe /a in the
run menu.....????? What next???? Thanks

The fact that you can launch using the /a switch means that there is nothing
wrong with Word itself: it has to be a corrupt normal.dot, an add-in, a
template in the Start-up folder, a custom macro or a COM add-in. You need to
follow the guide again as one of the steps will find the culprit.
