Word 2000 won't open!

Everything on my computer works except Word. Every time I
try to open, I get the error message: "Microsoft Word for
Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close."
Happens over and over. I did a McAfee scan, nothing.
Rebooted numerous times. Reinstalled Word. Nothing. Sent
$35 to MS help nine hours ago, nothing. Is the whole
world going to hell or just me? Need help bad.

Found my own solution. Corrupted file normal template. To
fix:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run . This will open Run Window
3. In the open box type in %appdata% and click OK
4. This will open Application Data Window.
5. In the Application Data window click on the folder
Microsoft.
6. This will show the contents of the Microsoft folder.
7. In the Microsoft folder search for the Templates
folder and Double click it.
8. This will show the contents of the Templates folder.
9. In the Templates folder you have a file with the name
Normal.
10.Right click on that file and rename it to
OldNormal.dot
11.Then open Word.
