Word says error when trying to open (windows XP pro) and
shuts down. Now none of my Office 2000 Programs will
stay open....The Windows installer program comes up and
then goes away with the program as well. What the heck
is happening? Thanks
Instant solution
Open Norton Antivirus, select Options and untick "Enable Office
plugin"
Then when you get a chance, run the Office Update from the Microsoft
web site and apply every single update that it offers you (you'll need
the original Office2000 installation CDs, at some stage). Restart your
computer and repeat the above ... and keep on repeating the above
until the website tells you there are no other updates left.
Reason : At some point, MS Office and NAV2002/2003 became utterly
incompatible. Somewhere along the line, one of Microsoft's updates for
Office2000 overcame this problem (Symantec buried their head in the
sand and adopted the attitude "Why should we be the ones to fix it?")
And then after you've completed this process, don't even bother
turning the NAV Office plugin option back on, anyway - it's not really
needed and you don't lose any level of security or protection having
it turned off to start with.
You know it makes sense.
