Hi Don
It sounds like you may have tracked change stored in the document, and the
only indication of them is the line indicating that some of the text
opposite the line has been changed.
To accept all the tracked changes, do the following. In Word 2000 and
before, Tools > Track Changes > Accept or Reject Changes. In Word 2002 and
above, on the Reviewing toolbar, find the button with the big blue tick.
Click the little arrow to the right of that button and choose Accept All
Changes.
