Word 2001 Files will Only Open from Within the Application

I'm using Office 2001 in classic mode under OS 10.1.5. Word files will
only open from within the application. Double clicking document icons
opens the application but not the file. Any suggestions please.

Boot to OS 9, remove Office 2001, empty the trash, then re-install Office
2001. Then boot into OS X and repair the Disk File Permissions. You have
lost some settings somewhere.

Hi Peter,

To remove Office 2001, use the removal tool available at
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/>, not the removal tool that's on the
CD. And don't forget to reinstall the Value Pack items you want and apply
the most current updaters (available at the same URL).
