Word 2002 always crashing

Word 2002 is driving me nuts - it is ALWAYS crashing on
me, sometimes multiple times a day. There never seems to
be any rhyme or reason - I can have lots of applications
open, or only the one; I can be in the middle of writing,
or doing nothing. I have noticed that it does happen a
lot when I go to save a document, but not always. Any
suggestions would be very welcome. I'm running Office XP
on Windows XP.

If the first suggestion to change default printers does
not help, you may want to evaluate whether you have
enough RAM. I'm no expert, but in using Office at home
and in multiple capacities in the work environment, I
consistently find that you need more RAM than Microsoft
suggests as the minimum requirement. In my current office
setting, after upgrading to Windows XP and Office XP,
multiple individuals were plagued with continual crashes--
even when using basic functions. Word was the worst
culprit. We upgraded RAM and 80-95% of our crashes were
eliminated. (The minimum RAM installation we are running
is 512MB).
