word 2002 always starts in safe mode

Hi:

I had a XP box who's registry got corrupt and I had to do
a repair. I've gotten all the applications to work except
Word 2002 that comes w/Works.

I get word failed to start correctly last time - error
msg and it always wants to recover documents and start in
safe mode regardless that I have:

1- reinstalled the application
2- uninstalled and reinstalled application
3- ran detect and repair
4 - there are no features to disable

So how else I can get it to stop going into safe mode?

When I did the uninstall I went and deleted this registry
key. Then I reinstalled with the same problem. I even
told Word to use factory default settings.

I'm stumped, I'm fairly certain it's a registry issue but
I don't seem to get it to work. A reinstall should have
over-written any corruptions ......

A reinstall does not overwrite anything--not Normal.dot (the most common
cause of problems), the Registry, or any add-ins that may be installed.

Yes I have, thanks. This is the first time a clean
install has generated the same error message. I am
convinced it is in the registry as it had been corrupt
but I am stumped as to where. These are the steps I have
done:

1- reinstalled the application
2- uninstalled and reinstalled application (after doing
this
