Word 2002 and relative paths for pictures

I normally use Word 2000 and it uses Fixxed paths when
you insert an image as link to file e.g.
c:\gmws4s\photo1.jpg. I am now using Word 2002 SP3 and it
use relative paths from where the document it placed e.g.
if the document was in s:\gmws4s\letters and the image
was in s:\gmws4s it would show the links path
as ..\photo1 etc. Is there anyway of forcing Word to work
like olderversions.

Not 100% sure about Word 2002, but in Word 2003 the replacing of the
absolute path by a relative path only happens if I have Tools |
Options | General | Web Options | Files | Update links on saves turned
on (which is the default).

I'm pretty sure I saw someone mention this for Word 2002 somewhere.
The menu navigation to get to the setting may be a little different in
Word 2003.

I don't see why Web Options should affect this, but it does.
