Word 2002 bug still in 2003 ?

MSKB article 283025 "WD2002: DocVariable Field Displays Box Symbol in Table
Cell" describes a bug which was introduced in Word2002. Although the article
still refers to 2002 only, testing here with Word2003 shows the same bug
still present.

Can anyone from MS confirm the status of this and whether there is any
prospect of a fix in the next service pack?

Hi Brian,

I confirmed that this problem still exists in Word 2003.

I have reviewed the bug report for this issue, and while development is
looking into the issue, there was no mention of possible dates of a fix.
