Word 2002-cannot delete text w/out accepting change

When typing in Word 02 I cannot delete text or hit
backspace without being prompted to accept the change.
Will get prompt "delete box?" or "delete text?" Never
seen this before and have not made any changes that I am
aware of.

On the General tab of Tools | Options, clear the check boxes for both items
that refer to WordPerfect.
