Word 2002 closes with no warning

Hi,
I am running WinXP Pro and Office XP. Problem is when MS
word is open and I am working with other programs I will
minimize word documents then when I attempt to maximize
the docs all of a sudden the program is no longer open. I
have tried to figure out if it is happening when Outlook
is open (it usually is). MS word is my email editor. Has
anyone heard of this? Better yet can anyone help?

Hi, Rob. Try removing handwriting recognition in Start | Control Panel | Regional and Languge Settings | Language tab | Details | <select Handwriting Recognition> | Remove. If this fixes the problem, and if you need to use handwriting recognition, then you can add it back and it should work okay after you re-add it.

Hi,
I am having exactly the same trouble. I use windows Xp and
office 2003. If (and ONLY if) I have multiple documents
open AND if (and ONLY if) I minimise documents and then
try to maximise the documents, word crashes instantly. Its
not related to any other program (I stopped using outlook)
and can occur when only blank word documents are open. I
have a new computer and dell support has no idea what is
wrong. I have loaded all the updates, uninstalled office
2003 professional and re-installed it, tried to repair
windows Xp all to no avail. Does anybody have a solution.
My next move is to format the hard drive and start again!

THANK YOU! That seems to have done the trick. So, where
did you learn about that? Is it posted in the KB? I could
not find anything. What a wierd.... "bug". Thanks again.

Sincerely,
Rob

Hi, Rob. Glad you got things working again. No, this solution is not
anywhere in the KB. AFAIK this solution was discovered by Word MVP Beth
Melton.
