Word 2002 crashes when I click on the File menu

Strange but true. Whenever I click on the file menu on the
navigational bar, Word crashes. I can use the icon menu to
save, print, etc but if I want to save a document as a
different name or use any other feature in the File menu
it crashes. Has anyone ever run into this problem. I
figure I am going to have to reinstall but wanted to see
if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks.
