Word 2002 Detect and Repair

I've been having problems with Word 2002 stalling while I'm typing and then
slowly putting the words up seconds after I've typed them. Tried to run
Detect and Repair, but after it's done gathering it's infor, etc-get a
message "Installer Terminated Prematurely". Under it the message reads "The
1/0 operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an
application request". Also tried to upgrade as MSN the Office XPSP3 update,
hoping that would help, but that get "installer terminated prematurely" also.
Could someone please help? Thank you so much.

Slow screen drawing may be caused by having Speech Recognition active or you
need to update your graphics card driver.

Thanks for trying to help. My speech recognition isn't installed, and I
checked with Microsoft Updates and did all the updates (otherwise I don't
know where to find any graphics card updates). Do you know why when I go to
Detect and Repair under Help, I get "installer terminated prematurely" and
"The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an
application request"? Thought maybe I could get the problem fixed there if I
could get that to work.

That sounds like your installer is corrupt. I believe there is an MSKB
article on installer problems and how to sort them out.
