Word 2002 Error When Opening

Word 2002 has been working fine on my system (running Windows XP) for the past year. I tried opening the program this afternoon and received an error message:

Word experienced a serious error the last time the add-in c:\program files\microsoft office\office 10\startup\a20msw10.dot was opened. Would you like to disable the add-in? To re-enable, click About Microsoft Word on the Help Menu and click Disabled Items.

I disabled the item, and now MS Word loads VERY slowly. I made sure all my MS updates were current, and updated my Norton virus check and scanned my system. Everything else seems okay -- but I'm not sure what caused this error or how to get Word functioning properly again. Any suggestions?

Almost undoubtedly, one of the add-ins is the cause of the problem though.
