I've suddenly started to have problems with word since i
opened an e-mail attachment in it. Now when i try to
start word i get a windows installer box appear and
disappear within a few seconds, word then opens and
displays a prompt stating
'An error occurred and this feature is no longer
functioning properly. Would you like to repair this
feature now?'
I select YES but then another error occurs stating..
'Microsoft Word cannot install the necessary files due to
windows installer error 1635. This patch package could
not be opened.Verify that the patch package exists and
that you can access it, or contact the application vendor
to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch
package'.
I click OK to close this message but then i recieve
another one stating..
'Microsoft word has not been installed for the current
user. Please run setup to install the application'.
Once i click OK for this message Word then completely
closes.
Any help would be appreciated, as i have attemped to
uninstall but it will not let me and i have also tried
most of the fixes in the knowledge base and nothing has
worked. I also cannot cannot use assisted support as i
cannot obtain the ID number because of this problem with
word.
