Word 2002 Help PLEASE

T

Tyler

Hey, I'm trying to make address labels for letters. I have everyone's
name, address, state, and zip code typed up in excel. Since you can't
form a label format in excel, I have to use the mail merge wizard in
word. So I go through that whole process, and when the peoples names,
addresses, etc., are on the word document, it automatically takes the 0
away in front of people's zip codes. Example: In excel the zip would be
07945, but in word it 7945. I would jut add 0's manually but I have
hundreds of names. So does anybody know how I can fix this so the 0 is
not automattically deleted from the front of the zip code when it is
put into word. Thanks a lot, Tyler.

It probably means that (a) Word is having an off day, (b) you are having a
bad-luck day, or possibly (c) there is a conflict with NAV or some other
add-in. I know that the Norton Office Plug-in causes OLE problems; see “OFF:
Cannot Open Office Documents or Cannot Edit Inserted Objects After You
Install Office XP Service Pack 2 or Office 2000 Service Pack 3 [KB328613]”
at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328613. Note that the Excel file
should be closed when you are trying to select it as a data source;
otherwise Word will report it as "in use," so you can't access it.
Interestingly, you can open two mail merges that use the same data source,
and Word will happily open two copies of the same Excel sheet. Go figure.

Well, so far, I have tried everything you have said and nothing has
worked. So if you have any other ideas for how I could fix this
problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, thanks a lot for
you help, Tyler.
