Word 2002 is reducing my image's size

I have a Word page that's 6.5" wide. My left and right margins take up 1.5". When I insert a TIFF file that's about 5" wide or greater, Word is shrinking it noticeably. How can I determine in advance how much Word will shrink one of my image's widths

If your left and right margins are 1.5" combined, then Word should not be
shrinking any graphic smaller than 7". If they're 1.5" apiece, then your
margin width is only 5.5", and Word will put the picture within that space.
You can make the picture larger by changing the wrapping from In Line With
Text to any other style, which puts the graphic in the drawing layer and
releases it from the document margins.

Suzanne,

When Word shrinks a graphic, does it always shrink it to the maximum available space between the margins

Usually, yes. Unless you've inserted it in another constrained space, such
as a table cell or text box.

As Suzanne says, but also check the paragraph indentation at your insertion
point.

Another big "gotcha" is paragraph styles formatted with "Exactly" line
spacing. You can drive yourself crazy wondering why you see only a little
horizontal strip of your picture!
