Word 2002 Paste crash, pasting into Form field in a Table

I have a long word form, many of the form fields being in tables, and I can
paste successfully into certain fields, and into others, Word completely
freezes for good, no error messages. KB article 811930 discusses a paste
bug in Word 2002, as does KB 320441, and KB 824934.

KB 811930 talks about a bug that generates a specific error message, which
my situation does NOT have.
KB 320441 talks about a bug specific to docs saved as Word 97 compatible,
which is not my situation
KB 824934 seems the most intriguing, talking about pasting text as RTF (it
says "into another program"), though, while my problem is pasting straight
back into word. (However, being a form field, I bet it's related).

ANyway, I have a clear, predictable problem, but in no case does it
absolutely match known problems. Has anyone else had this problem, and did
SP2 completely resolve it?

(And here's why I'm asking..... <groan>) I work somewhere, locked down
machines, where for some odd reason, tech support doesn't seem to be
motivated to install Service Pack 2, and before I raise hell and demand that
I get my SP2 installed, I want to be sure it will fix my problem).

If your document contains form fields and it was originally created in
Word 97 then I'd say:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q320441,
"WD2002: Word Stops Responding When You Paste Form Field Text into
Another Form Field" would apply.

I hesitate to say "WD2002: Word Quits When You Copy and Paste Portions
of a Document",
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811930 is applicable
since this error is typically encountered when you are using a macro.

I can't say for certain installing SP-2 will correct the problem but I
can say it corrects a lot of problems and you are bound to encounter
on at some point. :)
