Word 2002: pictures shown in normal view?

S

STEVE POWRIE

I recently acquired a notebook (Jan.15th) and loaded Office XP Standard onto
it and transferred many Word documents to the new notebook. On my old PC,
using this same Office XP Standard, these same documents in which pictures
were inserted showed up in normal view. Now I open these documents on the
new notebook, and the pictures don't show up - can only see them in print
preview. I checked the options for viewing under the tools drop down menu,
and drawings are check and placeholders is not checked. If I insert a
"carriage return" right after the picture, it will temporarially show up,
then disappear again if I page up or down. I don't know if this could
possibly have anything to do with the new security features of MS, and jpeg
files, which are on this notebook, but not on my old PC. Could someone
please help me with this? When I look at these files on the old PC, or
another PC at church not connected to the internet, the pictures are
displayed in normal mode.

Thank you so much,
Cheryl
