Word 2002 prompting before delete

Does anyone know why some Word documents prompt you
before deleting text? When I highlight text to delete, a
prompt appears in the status bar and I must hit "y"
before the text will be deleted. Only some documents
exhibit this.

Tools>Options>General. Uncheck the two WordPerfect options.
