Word 2002 will not open

I have a client using Word 2002 on a Windows XP system.
Word decided that it no longer wants to open, it will try
the safe mode, the dectect and repair option but still
give you the generic message saying "We're sorry but word
has a problem and cannot start..." I uninstalled and
reinstalled, tried a system restore in Windows, tried to
load it will the /a switch. nothing seems to work... any
suggestions on what to do next?
