Word 2002 zoom refuses to execute.

Something's happened to my Word 2002 Normal view. For all documents,
including blank New documents, zoom is frozen at 63%, making the 10-
point font as set in my Normal.dot illegible on my 13" monitor.

Selecting ANY new value for Zoom--200%, 100%, you name it--then
clicking OK does nothing. However, even the preview pane in the zoom
dialog DOES display the correct size.

I deleted all Normal.dot's from my drive, but on launching Word again
zoom is still 63%.

If I select Web view, the screen does display at correct size.

I made sure font size is correct (10 pt). I made sure "Sub/
Superscript" isn't checked. I looked in the Registry for any likely-
sounding culprit, to no avail. I can't even find any thread in
microsoft.public.word.* with phrase "zoom fails" or what have you.

Any ideas? Thanks much.

P.S. by author:

Agggghhhh! I was completely all wet about a couple of things.

Zoom is frozen at 63% and I can't change it, in only ONE document. All
other .docs are fine. Duh.

If I exit then start a New document, the frozen zoom behavior DOES
persist in the New doc.

But, if I launch any other .doc, it displays fine, and following THAT
with a New document, IT is fine.

So my Q's not an app-level one.

(The .doc in which zoom's frozen is fairly large--2.67 MB. Also, it
has MANY--perhaps thousands--of pages. Wonder if Wordoid is trying to
compress the file visually or something?)

Thanks.
