When opening documents from the network that contain
either templates or text boxes, it takes about forty five
seconds to one minute to open. This only seems to happen
with Windows XP. When I use a Windows 2000 system, the
documents open without hesitation. On the XP machine I
have tried all Service Packs and updates but nothing has
helped.

Office XP does not like mapped drives. Go into Tools, Options, File
Locations and change the network paths to UNC paths.
