Word 2003 and Windows Vista issues

I just bought a new laptop from dell that came with windows vista. When I
first started using it I didn't have word so it made wordpad my default
program for opening attachments in e-mails. Now that I have put office 2003
on it, i can't figure out how to make word open attachments.

Hello,

This is Richard from Dell's Online Community Outreach. In order to get
Windows to automatically open documents with Word, you will need to do
the following.

Right click on the document file and select properties. Within the
properties window click on the “Change” button and locate Word from the
list of programs. Make sure that the "Always use selected programs" box
is checked.
Click okay and then apply on the next window. It should be set now.
