Word 2003 - Bullets cause Word to shut down

When I try to add a bulleted list (numbers or symbols), I get the message
that Word has encountered a problem and must shut down. Anything I try to do
with bullets, whether attempting to add bullets or select Tools/Format
Bullets, I encounter the problem. Even with an existing document that
numbered lists, if I try to restart numbering at some point, I get the error.

I have been researching the problem. I have reinstalled MS Office 2003. I
have deleted all my print drivers. Any suggestions?

I went through the steps. Did not correct the problem.
