Are you initiating printing from Word itself, or from a .doc file displayed
in Windows Explorer?
If the latter, then that's what it's supposed to do.
If the former, then there's a problem. I would first try Help - Detect and
Repair. If that doesn't solve the problem, then I'd try the steps shown here
