word 2003 closes when I reopen a minimized document (2+ minimized

When I have two or more docs (they can be blank pages even) minimized, Word
2003 closes and sends me to the desktop when maximizing--no error message or
warning to save--the docs are recovered when I reopen Word. This happens
when I maximize the doc farthest right on the task bar
