Word 2003 custom menu bar does not load when Outlook 2003 is open

I have created a custom menu bar in Word 2003 that loads from a startup file.
When I open Word alone, the menu bar loads every time. However, if I have
Outlook open, the menu bar will not load correctly.

I also have Adobe Professional (2008), which automatically loads two menu
bars into Word. Sometimes the Adobe menu bar items get "mixed up" with my
own menu bar items (the items under my menu bar disappear, while being
replaced by the Adobe items). This only happens when Outlook is open.

Is there any way to have both Outlook and Word open together without having
these problems?

Start Word before Outlook.

Is there any other way around this? Outlook is generally opened at the
beginning of the day and then left open, while Word is intermittently opened
and closed. It would be a real pain to have everyone close Outlook just to
open Word, then re-open it each time!

But you probably won't like it - Do not use Word as the editor in Outlook.
