Word 2003 error with art from earlier version of Word

I am a medical transcriptionist. I have Word 2003 and use
a template that was created in Word 97 with a logo in
it. When I save any documents created with this
template, I get the error message "There is not enough
memory to display or print the picture". I can save the
document and work with it in Word, but when I use a third
party counting software (Sylcount by Sylvan Software)it
creates a problem. This software interfaces with Word,
opens each document, counts it, and then closes it. It
can only count one document because when it closes the
document, the error message comes up and the counting
program stops running. I have already downloaded the
update described in KBA 828041, which is supposed to
remedy the situation but it has done nothing. Any ideas?

Have you run Check for Updates under the Word Help menu?

Yes, I did download the critical updates for Word 2003.
I have tried copying the individual pieces of the logo
and header into a Word 2003 document and still get the
same results. My transcription service says they get the
same error message but can still use the Sylcount without
a problem.

Try using the file repair option to see if it resolves the issue. Use File,
Open, highlight one of the problem documents and press the down arrow at the
side of the OPEN button and choose Open & Repair.
