Word 2003 File Problems

I need help with a very strange problem I am having with
Microsoft Word 2003.

The software does not allow me to do more than a few file
management tasks. It will not save new files using
the "save as" command. It just does nothing. If you are
working on an existing file and click "save", control-S,
or click the little floppy disk icon; the software does
absolutely nothing. It appears the only way to save an
existing file is to close the file or the program. In
either of those two cases the software asks you if you
want to save the file. You can then click "yes".

One other alternative which appears to work is to try to
save the document as a web page. In that case only a
window opens, shows existing files or folders, and gives
you the opportunity to save the file. At that point you
can choose to save the file as a normal document.

Another feature which does not work is to attempt to open
a new file. If you do that by either clicking on "file"
then "new" or by clicking on the "open file" icon a
window opens displaying the message, "Run-time
error '53': File not found: wdwrdm32.dll".

These are the only problems I have had since loading
Microsoft Office Professional 2003 on my PC at work (a
Compaq Evo, 1.5 gigahertz PC with 768 megabytes of RAM).
There are no problems with any of the other programs in
the Office Professional suite. Here are the other things
I have tried:

- Removed and reinstalled the software.
- Removed and installed another copy of the same software
(yes, I have two licensed copies of the software direct
from Microsoft here at the office).
- Made sure that each installation was a "clean"
installation.
- Deleted and created a new Normal.dot template as
suggested in Microsoft knowledge base article #822645.
- Edited the Registry file to delete and create a new
data key as suggested in the same article.
- Downloaded and installed the latest updates from
Microsoft.
- Rebooted the PC after each of these steps and numerous
times in between.

What is really odd is that I installed a third copy of
Microsoft Office Professional 2003 on my home computer a
few weeks ago and have had none of the problems described
above. That machine is a little faster (2.2 gigahertz),
but has only 512 megabytes of RAM. A search of both
machines fails to locate any file named "wdwrdm32.dll".
An Internet search bills provide any really useful
information about such a file.

Can anyone help me to resolve this problem? It is most
annoying and causes an enormous productivity problems.

FOUND THE ANSWER!!!

I had a bad old file from last September in
C:\Documents and Setting\myusername\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

Threw that bad old file away and all became well.
