Word 2003 graphic disappear/appear

The screen captures placed in several technical documents
created with Word 2003 do not conistently appear when the
document is opened. If the screen is refreshed, sometimes
they will appear, sometimes not.

All the settings in tools > options are correct based on
the knowledge base articles I've read on the support site.

We just upgraded from Word 97 to Word 2003. This didn't
happen in Word 97. It's not a lack of system memory
problem.

Might think about an updated graphics driver. Go to the manufacturer's web site and
look around.
