Word 2003 Hangs Entire System

Word 2003 hangs my entire system and my display gets
trashed with lots of noise characters when editing a
large document. You can still read parts of the screen
so I expect screen memory is getting overwritten. I have
to physically hold down the power button to reset my
machine and perform a cold boot. The problem only
happens with Word 2003 (I recently upgraded) and happens
when I first open a large document or after extensive
editing of a large document (usually right BEFORE I
save!!!).

I've applied all Office updates but still have the
problem. Any ideas?

In this case, its best if you do a fresh installation of Office 2003, its
possible some of the crud of the previous version of Office on your computer
is probably causing some conflicts by slowing down your PC.

This is a know bug with Word 2003 and then current work around is to go to
your graphics settings and reduce the acceleration 1 notch. A fix for this
bug is being worked on and will probably be posted with the first
ServicePack (that's just my guess about timing).
