Word 2003 hangs on Save

I have Word 2003 and XP running. Suddenly (it seems
after an upgrade to Norton Internet Security 2004) it
hangs after you try to save a document (says Word 'not
responding'). Furthermore, it won't let me open the file
I was editing after it crashes...I have to reboot the
system.

I have tried the following:
Installed Word 2003 update KB830000, version
5.0.2919.6304 and that didn't fix it. Uninstalled and
reinstalled Word 2003 (followed by the update again) and
that didn't fix it. I have run a full virus scan and my
system is clean. What can I do? This is very
frustrating!

Disable the Office Plugin in the options of Norton Antivirus.
